A Place a Heart Can Die

 

It’s a sad thing when you love someone

But the feelings aren’t returned

And you try to chalk it up as a lesson learned.

But your heart is not forgiving

And the pain just twists and turns

And your chest feels like it’s been beat and burned.

 

You stay awake at night

Praying and hoping that they’ll stay

And the aching pain just simply won’t go away.

You make excuses for them

Though they've turned your life to gray

And you allow it because to you it’s just their way.

 

Is there an answer when you’ve lost your breath

From all the tears you cry

And it seems that your love is passing by.

When the pain seems too much to take

And you lose your strength to try

Do you know a place where a heart can lie?

 

It’s a sad thing when you love someone

And their effort is never made

And the foundation of it all was poorly laid.

When you receive your bill for love

And your efforts don’t make the grade.

The high expense on the bill will go unpaid.

 

You stay awake at night

And all you want is sleep and dreams

But you can’t cause your life is splitting at the seams.

Your mind is going crazy

And sometimes it even seems

from your chest you can hear the pain and screams.

 

Is there an answer when you’ve lost your breath

And you have no air to sigh?

Your mind is lost and the day has past you by.

There's no relief when your heart is hurt

And there’s no more tears to cry.
