We’re going to buck the trend and instead of listing down, “The 1001 Things Wrong With Men” that so many articles tend to do, we are going into the qualities that are desirable in men–a celebration of their strengths if you will. It is healthy to take stock of the good things you have from time to time, and appreciating your man for everything he is and does will go a long way in preserving your relationship. Here then are a few signs that you have a good man on your hands, and this will hopefully give you more reasons to cherish him more.
The independent females out there may balk at the thought of a man having to take care of them, but let's be honest now: most women expect nothing less from their man. Now, “taking care of you” can mean anything and everything from making sure that you have dinner waiting for you when you come home late from work, to taking over caring of the kids when you’re tired. Think about every little thing that your man does for you, and you just may realize how well-cared for you are.
A good man knows when to listen, and someone who is willing to lend a sympathetic ear when you need it is definitely worth holding on to. Of course, you have to make sure that you don’t wear out your welcome by talking his ear off every chance you get. Being a sympathetic listener is one thing, but no one wants to be the sounding board all the time.
If your man shows concern for every little thing that goes on with you, then you know you have a keeper. It is easy enough to be supportive and sympathetic with the big things such as an illness or losing your job, but a man who comes to your side after you cut yourself in the kitchen or break a heal on the side walk is worth his weight in gold.
Respect is an important part of any relationship, and you want a man who gives it to you constantly and isn't afraid of showing it. Look out for small cues such as holding the door open for you and deeper and more significant signs of respect such as introducing you to his close friends and family as his girlfriend or the love of his life. Other signs of respect are valuing your opinion and thoughts as much as he values his own.
When all is said and done, we all want someone who will be there when the chips are down and when your so-called friends are nowhere to be seen. A man who sticks with you through thick and thin is someone you can rely on, and you should be thankful that you are so privileged.
